My mother designed this journal from things she remembers as a child growing up in NC. I love the message we engraved on the inside of these journals. I drew this design digitally and worked side by side with my brother at Statedwoods Co in West End, NC to laser engrave my design into the leather. This journal is made from a durable dark brown espresso colored cowhide leather that has a flexible temperment but stiff enough to be substantial for decades to come.

"There was a time in North Carolina when summers were filled with the sweet smell of magnolias and the joy of riding bikes down quiet streets. Kids spent their days building forts, flying kites, and drinking water straight from the garden hose. Evenings meant walking barefoot through the grass searching for four leaf clovers, gathering laundry from the clothesline, and heading inside as the porch light flickered on. Nights were for catching lightning bugs to put in jars and laying on the sidewalk to gaze at the stars. Those quiet nights are all but memories...... oh, those were the sweet days."
